In
the beginning of 2002, Rarity Records approached Sue to make a record
for this Dutch label which specializes in rockabilly and rock 'n' roll.
She decided to select different songs from the ones she usually performed
on stage, resulting in a variety of jazz and blues oriented songs with
a solid rock 'n' roll basis.
Instead of recording with her regular band Sue and the Flaming Stars,
she worked with studio musicians Hennie Korsten (guitar), Diana Huismans
(piano), Hans Kuenen (bass) and Chris Fleskens (drums) among others.
Sue's
brand new album All
I Can Do Is Dream You
was recorded during the fall of 2002 at Session Sound Recording Studio
in Rosmalen, the Netherlands. The outcome is a broad variety of songs
in the 40's and 50's jazzy style, with extension to more rock 'n' roll
tinted songs like Buddy Holly's Rave On and the title song All
I Can Do Is Dream You, written by Billy Burnette.
Love for 40's and 50's singers and movie stars like Ann-Margret stands
central on this record, and becomes clear in songs like I'm
Gonna File My Claim and Bachelor in Paradise. The everlasting
influence of Elvis Presley can be heard in Tender Feelin' and Clean
Up Your Own Backyard.
Standards like Johnny Guitar and Hallelujah I Love Him So
got Sue's personal touch. Her love for singing in the Spanish language
comes about in songs like Perfidia.
Very special on this album are the never before recorded numbers I
Got Love and Look Before You Leap, once written for Elvis in
the 60's by his regular composers Sid Wayne and Ben Weisman.
